Summer is over, school has started, and students are sitting at their desks instead of playing. However, it is not always necessary to forget about playing! At the Hungarian Money Museum and Visitor Center, students can learn by playing, even during a local lesson.
From September, the Museum of Money will be open to groups of students again, offering guided tours on request, or even out-of-hours lessons on the spot, whether in mathematics or in economics and finance. The museum's primary aim is to raise financial awareness, i.e. to educate young people in financial education so that they can learn to manage their own money as soon as possible.
The museum will showcase the path of money in five nodes, while teaching young people about economics and finance through playful, interactive activities. They will learn about the history of money, the characteristics of the old and modern currencies, from the gold mines that backed and underpin the currency to the most serious transactions of today, such as central banks, world banks, monetary policy and the stock market. Visits to the Money Museum are free of charge, but a reservation is required.
In fact, the Money Museum even offers financial education outside of the confines of the museum, where there is a demand for it. Launched in 2023, the free 'Suitcase Museum - Journey Around Money' programme will help those who can't visit Budapest due to lack of time or money.
