The 11th of November in 2024 in Budapest: the MNB 100 national quiz competition, which was launched on the 26th of April in 2024, for the 100th anniversary of the founding of the independent Magyar Nemzeti Bank (the Central Bank of Hungary), came to an end on the 31st of October. During the six rounds of the competition, around 4,000 secondary school and university students entered and tested their knowledge. The questions of the competition, which lasted for six months, were mainly related to the history of the 100-year-old central bank, with economic and financial questions.
The aim of the competition was to give young people an insight into the first 100 years of the Magyar Nemzeti Bank, from its foundation in 1924 to the present day. In addition to the historical perspective, the contestants had to demonstrate their financial and economic knowledge and literacy, thus encouraging and helping to develop the financial culture of young people in Hungary, which is a priority for the Magyar Nemzeti Bank, in accordance with the Central Bank Act, and the Hungarian Money Museum and Visitor Center’s goal is the enhancement of financial literacy as well. Among those who have participated in all six rounds and successfully answered the questions, ten contestants selected by lot will receive the main prizes.
In addition, a total of 100 gifts were raffled among the participants during the competition to mark the 100th anniversary of the MNB.
The winners of the grand prize are:
András Áron Berecz, Zsigmond Heiszer, Jázmin Koncz, Ádám Majuresz, Máté Németh, Laura Pakocs, Bianka Rumpler, Ferenc Kristóf Tóth, Réka Tóth, János Zakócs.
