The Money Museum can be visited free of charge during opening hours, both for group and individual visitors. Even though there is no entry fee, due to the great interest, it is absolutely necessary to register and make an appointment in advance, as the capacity of the exhibition is limited.
Follow the Money Museum’s online Facebook and Instagram pages, since on these very pages - in addition to a lot of interesting and information on financial topics - we also regularly provide information about visiting the museum. It is possible to book an appointment via an online interface on this page! With just a few clicks, you can book an appointment for any available timeslot during the opening hours of the museum via the registration interface.
The museum is open every day, except on Tuesdays:
Monday, Wednesday and Friday 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.,
Thursday 8.00 and 19.00,
Saturday and Sunday from 10.00 to 18.00.
It is important to note that the museum maintains different time slots for institutional groups, such as kindergartens and schools, as well as for individual and individual group visitors, so you can only book an appointment within the allotted times.
For organized institutional groups, on weekdays - except for Tuesday - a time slot from opening to 14:00 is reserved.
Our museum pedagogy sessions can provide valuable additional experience for student groups, which we provide detailed information about on this page.
Individual visitors can register on weekdays - also with the exception of Tuesday - after 14:30 normally, but they can also register for the time slots not booked by school groups. It is also possible for individuals to visit as groups - for example, with friends or family - but it is important to know that the number of the group cannot exceed 18 people; groups larger that exceed this number can only view the exhibition after dividing the group into smaller groups.
We would like to draw the attention of our visitors to the fact that it is worth arriving at the museum at least ten minutes before the registered time.
TRANSPORTATION, ORIENTATION
The entrance to the Money Museum can be approached from Sándy Gyula alley, which opens from Széll Kálmán tér.
For those arriving by public transport, we provide a detailed guide on our Contact page – no matter whether you want to get to the museum by tram, bus or metro. Under the menu item, those who are planning to arrive in the capital by long-distance bus or train can also get help.
Important additional information for wheelchair users is that both the entrance to the building and the entire interior of the museum are barrier-free, so our visitors have everything they need to enjoy the museum experience.
Although the main attraction of the museum is the permanent exhibition, there are several places in the building that deserve the attention of our guests. For example, the Cafe of the Money Museum can be visited on its own, regardless of the exhibition, and due to its special atmosphere, it offers a pleasant place for any kind of friendly meeting or conversation. Another exciting point is the special, bastion-like tower of the listed building, which offers a great view of Budapest’s downtown. As before, we provide detailed information about visiting the cafe and the tower under the Contact menu item.
